I can be described as imaginative, nurturing, curious, and collaborative. I believe firmly in the innate wisdom of my therapy participants, and invite them to be co-creators of the therapy space. Using a relational and holistic approach, I meet you where you’re at, honoring all of who you are, and incorporate the whole self into the healing process. I create a space where we can work through hard things, and also where we can experience laughter and joy.

THERAPY PRACTICE

I’m a therapist specializing in complex trauma and interpersonal violence. These experiences often overlap with feelings of depression and anxiety.

My practice is eclectic and relational. I draw from psychodynamic psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP), dialectics, and mindfulness. I also incorporate each person's community, cultural traditions, and spirituality.

I’m a proud auntie, and mom to a pitbull mix and a very large horse. You can often find me riding horses, quilting, and tending to my plants.

I work in partnership Abbie Shain, MSW, LICSW, of Aviva Therapy & Healing. I’m a proud member of the Liberatory Wellness Network.

ANTI-OPPRESSIVE APPROACH

I am constantly working to integrate anti-oppressive, anti-racist, liberatory, and de-colonized practices into my work.

I strive to create a compassionate, collaborative, and affirming space. I center ongoing collaboration and consent, acknowledge power differentials, bring the whole self into the healing journey, and show up authentically and transparently. I acknowledge ways in which systems of oppression impact individual and community well-being, along with social work and psychotherapy’s role in both current and historical contributions to oppression, along with the co-option of cultural wisdom. I am constantly unlearning carceral and colonized practices, and am intentional about learning from teachers outside of white, western psychotherapy.

EDUCATION

I have a Bachelor’s in Scandinavian Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I completed my Master’s of Social Work at the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities.

I’ve received formal training from the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute and the Midwest Center for EMDR Training.

I’m currently a LGSW working towards independent licensure under the supervision of Abbie Shain, MSW, LICSW.
